Dean Bender, a life-long resident of Michigan, holds a BA (liberal arts) and a MA degree in counseling from Western Michigan University. He earned his Doctorate of Chiropractic from Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa in 1981. Returning to his home state in 1982 he opened his own practice on South Westnedge in Kalamazoo and relocated to the current location in 1989.
Dr. Bender is a McKenzie practitioner. This hands-on practice focuses on functional stability. The initial diagnosis is made via orthopedic, neurologic and structural exam with motion palpation as a primary diagnostic tool. Additionally, he utilizes the Palmer system of adjusting, McKenzie rehabilitation and exercise protocols as well as Cox flexion-distraction, toggle recoil, and the Thompson technique.
